Children's Liturgy

Today, we hear that Jesus fed 5,000 people who had come to hear him teach with just five barley loaves and two fish which were offered to him by a small boy.  When everyone had finished eating, there were twelve baskets or hampers filled with the leftovers.  The people were so excited at this that they decided he was the prophet they were waiting for, and they wanted to make him king.  Jesus didn’t want this, so he had to escape from the crowds!

This miracle, the feeding of the five thousand, is a lesson for us.  We learn that when we give what we have to God just as the little boy did, he can take it, bless it, and do more with it than we could ever imagine.  Even though we may not have very much, when we place it in God’s hands, it becomes a great deal.
Happy holiday!
