Joining the Parish

Many of us attend church without thinking about the formalities surrounding it. You do not have to be a registered member of the Parish to attend church services or group events. We welcome Christians of all denominations to worship with us, and non-Christians to join us to find out more about Christ’s teachings.

New to the area? We welcome you to introduce yourselves and join one of the many activities we have for youth, families and children. See the Parish groups and events pages for more information. There are also prayer groups and other community and social groups you can participate in.

Parishioners are registered members of the church community under the care of the Parish Priest. You can attend church at any time without any obligation to fill in a form and become a registered parishioner.  There are official parish boundaries that indicate which parish you belong to, but there is no obligation to you to attend that particular church.  We keep the parish list so that we can have some idea of how big our parish population is, and to some extent so that we can get in touch with people if we need to (e.g. for sacramental or pastoral reasons).  We report our “pastoral statistics” to the diocese every year. The parish registration form enables us to keep this information on our database, but we do not sell it or use it for any reason other than those mentioned above.

Thinking of joining the Parish?  Parish registration forms are available electronically below, in print at the back of the church, or you can contact the church secretary.

Thinking about becoming a Catholic? We'd love to hear from you

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (R.C.I.A.) is the process or spiritual journey whereby adult non-Catholics whether baptised or not are helped along the road to becoming members of the Catholic Church. Some people from the outset are very sure that this is what they wish to do, whilst others may simply wish to know more about Catholic faith and life before making any decision. Both are most welcome, and no commitment is expected of them until they feel ready and able to give it. We have a group of ‘enquirers’ at present, who meet on a regular basis with parishioners who are happy to accompany them on this spiritual journey and share their own faith and life experience as Catholics with them. If you are interested and would like to know more about this, please contact Fr. Pat who will arrange to see you, and then put you in touch with the leaders of the group.

2018-19 programme starts 3rd October 2018 and continues until Easter 2019 (termtime only).
